Campus Grid Description
The campus grid is used by to locate buildings and other features on the Harvard campus and surrounding area. The grid scheme was designed to overlay the Massachusetts State Plane Coordinate System, Mainland Zone, NAD 83, with the southwest corner of the grid (SW corner of grid cell 26) referenced to SPC 751140.00 E, 2,955,070 N. Refer to the grid illustration below.
A typical grid cell measures 2520' wide by 1800' high. For greater resolution in the area of Harvard Yard, cells 9 and 14 each have been divided into 9 sub-cells.
For plotting purposes, refer to the following table to determine scale resulting from plotting various view sizes on different size sheets.
