Housing

An important element of Harvard’s success as an urban university is its strong residential character. Harvard’s residential community serves to promote scholarly interchange, strengthen its institutional competitiveness, and mitigate the pressure on the local housing market.

Recognizing the impact Harvard’s residential facilities have on the physical character of the campus, UPO provides a range of planning services related to housing. UPO undertakes housing studies, manages housing surveys, and collects and analyzes housing data. UPO also initiates and supports broader housing policies at the University and represents the University’s interest in the public arena as new regulations are proposed that would affect its residential facilities.
