Reports and Statistics

The UPO publishes a variety of reports and studies. Some are issued on an annual basis — usually to comply with regulatory or other obligations; others address specific planning issues. Several of these reports are described below.

Harvard Square Survey

In 2006 Harvard conducted a survey of its affiliated students, faculty, alumni, and staff to gauge their opinions about the retail mix, urban character, and availability of information about events and resources of Harvard Square. The results of the survey will help inform the University's long-term approach to ensuring that its properties in the Square continue to support a vibrant commercial center with a distinctive character and identity. It also dovetails with on-going efforts by the University in conjunction with Cambridge's Economic Development Division and the Harvard Square Business Association (HSBA) to improve and revitalize Harvard Square. Overall, 2,600 people responded to the primarily Internet-based survey.

Town Gown Report

Annual report to the City of Cambridge of current conditions and population at Harvard's Cambridge campus. Includes a description of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs offered,  efforts to share information with City agencies and the community about the institutional planning process, and description of future needs and plans responding to those needs.

Parking and Transportation Demand Management

Extensive report on Harvard's existing Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs, the University's Cambridge parking supply, and the total population of employees and graduate students who travel to the University. Describes how the University is managing its vehicle trips through TDM measures and strategies offered by the CommuterChoice Program.

Harvard Patterns
